Week 16 - User Testing #2

After last week's results we were very exited to continue with our user test on various people and see the effects shared music has on people who have never met each other before.
This week we matched the participants playlists and chose to play them a 'First Aid Kit' song, based on their favourite artists and songs. The general atmosphere in the car was a bit awkward at first - they were not making eye contact most of the time and were looking mostly Forward and sideways. We realised that moments of silence creates bigger awkwardness. But as the song kept on playing we noticed that the interaction between our participants became more calm, less awkward and pleasant - They Talked about the song and the band, which brought up a common topic - Sweden (one of the participants is Swedish and the other participant likes the band which is from Sweden).

Progress & Product Video
This week we finished writing the script for our End of the year product video which we will be shooting at the beginning of the week. We discussed our ideas with Noa and decided to focus on trying to show throw the video the awkward feeling people might sometimes feel while taking shared rides with strangers. In addition, we finished our progress video - where you can see cooper "growing" and "transforming" in less then 2 minutes. While making the video we realised how far we've come (and not so easy) with our project, But also as a group.
We are focusing on our final video and planing our shooting day - we have a professional team and planing each and every detail so we can be completely prepared. We want our video to look professional, so we also watched previous examples which gave us some ideas of do's and don'ts.
We decided together on our final design (after a long thought process and many user testing). We reached several conclusions regarding Cooper's movements, based on the LEDs as a minimal movement of dance:
1. The movements of cooper will be according to the beat - so they won't give a repetitive feeling to the person watching.
2. The dance movements will be reflected with the movement of two different parts (as seen on the LEDs testing - dance is perceived when the lights move in different directions.)
3. The movement will be flexible and not stiff.

Ani created for us the insides of cooper - this was a very exiting moment as we all stood there together and watched how cooper is becoming "alive" and started dancing. We tried to make sure that Cooper's movement won't be stiff and robotic - and we believe we are on the way to the final, improved cooper we had in our vision. Cooper (as seen on the video) dances to the beat and we are currently working on his final design.
