Week 16 - User Testing #2

After last week's results we were very exited to continue with our user test on various people and see the effects shared music has on people who have never met each other before.
This week we matched the participants playlists and chose to play them a 'First Aid Kit' song, based on their favourite artists and songs. The general atmosphere in the car was a bit awkward at first - they were not making eye contact most of the time and were looking mostly Forward and sideways. We realised that moments of silence creates bigger awkwardness. But as the song kept on playing we noticed that the interaction between our participants became more calm, less awkward and pleasant - They Talked about the song and the band, which brought up a common topic - Sweden (one of the participants is Swedish and the other participant likes the band which is from Sweden).

Week 19 - Motion modules
This week we concentrated on studying movement and understanding of the Gestalt principle of head movement. We went to buy LED bulbs in order to try to understand the movements of the head more deeply.
We connected the bulbs to the body and filmed ourselves dancing in total darkness. We tried to move the bulbs in all kind of Placements along shoulders and head.

We also looked at mechanical movements, especially animation. We concentrated the movements that seemed to us Interesting and have the atmosphere of the movement of the dots in the dark space.
Here are some of conclusions of our experiment:
-
a movement with four bulbs creates a type of square that looks like a robotic face.
-
movement with three bulbs in the shape of an inverse triangle is related to an animal - sort of a dog.
-
The movement of points in a straight line - produces a pleasant movement - the more points along the length The line becomes interesting - looks a bit like a spine.
-
The shoulder movement creates something special The music looks like the bulbs bounce in some sort of dance

We hope to apply what we have learned to Copper's movements and consult Ani for our next design steps.
