Week 16 - User Testing #2

After last week's results we were very exited to continue with our user test on various people and see the effects shared music has on people who have never met each other before.
This week we matched the participants playlists and chose to play them a 'First Aid Kit' song, based on their favourite artists and songs. The general atmosphere in the car was a bit awkward at first - they were not making eye contact most of the time and were looking mostly Forward and sideways. We realised that moments of silence creates bigger awkwardness. But as the song kept on playing we noticed that the interaction between our participants became more calm, less awkward and pleasant - They Talked about the song and the band, which brought up a common topic - Sweden (one of the participants is Swedish and the other participant likes the band which is from Sweden).

Forums Research
After our observations from the past week we decided to search the internet to find out what people are saying about the carpool community.
We found a community where people get stars for taking carpools, the more carpool you take the higher you are rated. The community was formed to encourage people to take more shared rides.
There is also a list that rates companies by the distance they saved using shared rides.
We also saw that the security is a big issue. People don't feel safe riding with strangers, and they rather take the bus or stand in traffic then using a shared ride.

Another issues was that people are using the carpool rides as a dating app, they are hitting on their passengers and making women and men feel uncomfortable taking shared rides.

The other issues with that is that men were saying they are afraid that women will think they are flirting with them and that is why they are not enthusiastic about picking up girls in shared rides.
The overall feeling was that not a lot of people are excited about riding with strangers and that there are a lot of open questions about the interactions and rules of shared rides.
