Week 16 - User Testing #2

After last week's results we were very exited to continue with our user test on various people and see the effects shared music has on people who have never met each other before.
This week we matched the participants playlists and chose to play them a 'First Aid Kit' song, based on their favourite artists and songs. The general atmosphere in the car was a bit awkward at first - they were not making eye contact most of the time and were looking mostly Forward and sideways. We realised that moments of silence creates bigger awkwardness. But as the song kept on playing we noticed that the interaction between our participants became more calm, less awkward and pleasant - They Talked about the song and the band, which brought up a common topic - Sweden (one of the participants is Swedish and the other participant likes the band which is from Sweden).

First Material Prototyping
First we experimented with some materials trying to figure out what qualities we want in our solution.
We tried doing a partition between the driver and the passenger in case they want some quiet. We also tried to do a robot that can break the ice between the two of them, so we did a funny movement for the robot head that is inspired from the shaking head dog doll in cars.
After trying this things out (you can see in the video on the left) we decided we don't want to do a partition because it is very awkward to block someone this way and therefor missing the point of what we are trying to do. We did like the shaking robot head.
Next we tried to put the robot in the environment it is going to be - inside the car. After trying it out we learned we need to be very aware of the proportions because we don't want our robot to disturb the driver.
